What they say[edit]

“Trout is a note taking utility which is loosely based on the mind mapping concept that allows you to rapidly associate ideas and help you organise your ideas in a non-linear way. It could assist you with organising an event or solving a problem. It has a OS X counterpart with extra features. Work on your iPad and your Mac seamlessly via iCloud.

You are not restricted from cross linking your nodes and links may be labelled. Your ideas can be categorised with color and icons and you can use images from your own Photo library to assist.

Trout is ideal for lectures, conferences and meetings and incorporates an audio recorder which allows you to record through your iPads internal mic while continuing to create a map.

It has a built in Safari view from which you can instantly add nodes to your map. Ideal for web research sessions.”

Observations[edit]

There’s more to this than meets the eye. It can make concept maps (any-to-any connections and linking phrases on relationship lines) and offers more customizability than some mappers. It even incorporates an audio recorder, Safari view and free-hand sketching. It can export to FreeMind and OPML. G+
