What they say:  " JSViz makes it easy to create dynamic 2D views of information. Practical applications include network graphs, navigation, and other dynamic layouts."
Observations:  This is not a product, but code that you can use if you're prepared to get your hands dirty. You've probably seen visualizations of web site maps using this.

What they say:  " Use your Smartphone as a real Personal Assistant. You have just got a new idea? Jot it down as a new entry into one of your Projekt lists, or into a new list. Link it to a Contact, or to a Task in the built-in Agenda. Attach a note to it, as long as you wish... You will come back to it later, modify it, link it to an image or to a sound, move it to another place,...

Projekt is an outliner with features that make it ideal to create and manage hierarchical list of all sorts and take control of your life, at work and at home:
break the complexity of a big project into sub-projects, and then into manageable tasks, write meeting notes or prepare presentations and lectures,
prepare and check shopping lists, packing lists and other structured 'todo' lists, such as e.g. cooking recipes...
organize and comment collections of images and music files on your phone."
Observations:  Outliner for Symbian-based mobile phones.

What they say:  " ... a simple way to embed flow diagrams or drawings within emails, blogs, text based media. ... since starting development it has started to become more than this, with a link to export drawings to DITAA, as well as sharing and saving.
I intend to expand the site further to incorporate a gallery, and when core work has been competed I have every intention of making this entirely open source!
The site is made in GWT and runs on Google AppEngine, for best results use Chrome to draw large diagrams, as it is very heavy on JavaScript."
Observations:  This is a very simple box and lines web app, with a twist - it helps you draw the diagram on screen in simple characters, but it then gives the option to convert the character-based diagram to a higher-resolution image. Diagrams can be saved online, kept private or made public, editable or read-only.

Visual mapping and recession-proofing your job

It looks like businesses are in for a tough time in 2008 and beyond. If your employer downsizes, how can you take steps to make sure you're one of the survivors?

Here are the Knols on mind mapping

Here's a link to my main Knol entitled "mind mapping". There are cross reference items on related terms as well.

Roots of visual mapping

This is the start of a historical survey of visual mapping. It kicks off with one well-known classic example, and follows up with a very interesting map that has more recently come to my attention. I've written about origins of mind mapping before, but now I'm assembling samples. I've also mentioned elsewhere (see the comments) that I'd like to get samples of Idea Sunbursting that Dr. Perusek wrote to me about.

Mindmapping for creativity

There's a lot to like in the (unrestrained!) enthusiasm this author shows for Mindmaps.   [Vic]
