What they say:  " This is a prototype of an HTML5 based mind mapping application. It lets you create neat looking mind maps in the browser. Be aware that it is under development and does still lack some essential features.
But did you know that it is available offline? You can use the app wherever you are, there is no need for an internet connection, everything happens inside your browser on your machine.
Feel free to send me any suggestions you might have or even contribute to the project on github.
Why?
There are many mind mapping applications out there. However, the desktop apps are often bloated and not intuitive, and most web apps charge you for premium features.
This one is free, open source and it's full of HTML5 goodness.
You spend most of your time inside your browser anyway. Why not create your mind maps here as well? This app tries its best to deliver you a smooth user experience that you know from desktop software products.
Requirements
You need a decent web browser that implements all HTML5 functionality and offers support for CSS3. Chrome 10+, Firefox 3.6+, Safari 5+, Opera 10.6+, IE9+ should do the job."
Observations:  'Mindmaps' is a simple mind mapper written in HTML5, but effective within the limits of what it sets out to do. It focuses on ease of use, and even offers step-by-step instructions when you open the site.
It gives you plenty of control how and where you place the nodes.
Although this runs in a browser from a web address, it does not store the map online. Instead you have a choice of saving the map to local HTML5 storage, or as a normal file on your PC.
There is also a Chrome extension called MindMappr, based on David Richard's open source code. That can be installed from here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/njkigggmlihigheckmmebgogbgdmllpo but at the time of writing (Nov 2011) this version, unlike DRichard Mindmaps is unable to save the map as a file that you control - it can only save in your local HTML5 store, which is not very safe.

Vegetable or royalty – take your pick with mindmapping

Whether you have vegetable or royal aspirations, I can confirm that you'll find mindmapping a great way of calming yourself down when you have many calls on your time, ideas buzzing round your head and objectives to meet. But it must fit your own personal style of thinking, and you must set aside the time to do it! That's how I bust stress, not by mapping out my stressful times. But we're all different, and maybe this will work for you.   [Vic]

Mindmapping to plan your life

To each individual reader, mindmap topics don't come much bigger than this -- on the personal level, anyway.   [Vic]

The mindmapping route to project-team building

This piece sets out what seems to me to be a novel use for mindmapping: Staffing a project, functional unit or department. It is a good illustration of the flexibility of the mindmapping approach. I often use mindmapping in drawing up job specifications and candidate profiles, but not quite in the way described here. I think I'll give it a try.   [Vic]

Research and mindmapping to kickstart your writing

Here is another slant on getting your writing going -- research and a dash of mindmapping.   [Vic]

Writing, come what may

There's only a brief mention of mindmapping here, but it's obviously important to the author. Anyway, to me it's a great article on getting moving with writing. I hope you find it so, too.   [Vic]
