What they say:  " - Seamless integration between desktop and web application
- Powerful Export/Import options: Advanced export options to MS® Word and PowerPoint
- Project management integration: MS® Outlook and MS® Project for all project activities
- Simultaneous collaboration: Working on the same map at the same time
- Project management integration: Import project data and task info from Basecamp
- Google integration: Google Docs, Google Contacts and Google Search
- In-house solution: Setup easily deployed on customers own server"
Observations:  Dropmind provides mobile access to your on-line maps. iPad is mentioned as a platform because it has been announced, but it is not actually available yet (Sept 2010).

The requirement to give extensive personal data before users can download a free trial is burdensome and most unusual in try-before-buying software. They would undoubtedly gain market share by dropping the need to provide any personal data before a potential user can download. The web site has a gallery of maps but as far as I can see, no screenshots of the user interface for the web, desktop or iPad versions.
For project management, Dropmind now allows task information to be added to nodes, and can make Gantt charts.

Basic introduction to mindmapping

I didn't see why this shouldn't work all the year round. No need to wait for the New Year - here it is.   [Vic]

Mindmapping for the quick-witted

This is a good, quick description of what mindmapping is, when applied to its use for note taking. It’s a little short on specifics and examples, so you’ll have to browse further on mind-mapping.org for those.   [Vic]

Vegetable or royalty – take your pick with mindmapping

Whether you have vegetable or royal aspirations, I can confirm that you'll find mindmapping a great way of calming yourself down when you have many calls on your time, ideas buzzing round your head and objectives to meet. But it must fit your own personal style of thinking, and you must set aside the time to do it! That's how I bust stress, not by mapping out my stressful times. But we're all different, and maybe this will work for you.   [Vic]

Mindmapping to plan your life

To each individual reader, mindmap topics don't come much bigger than this -- on the personal level, anyway.   [Vic]

The mindmapping route to project-team building

This piece sets out what seems to me to be a novel use for mindmapping: Staffing a project, functional unit or department. It is a good illustration of the flexibility of the mindmapping approach. I often use mindmapping in drawing up job specifications and candidate profiles, but not quite in the way described here. I think I'll give it a try.   [Vic]
